Cubes - Issue 5
The Wedding of Karen and Gareth

Introduction
No score and four years ago Karen Andinus and Gareth Flect met for the first time within the pages of Hot Dog Issue #3. They were just supposed to be background filler for that comic. But that was then and this is now and in the here and now we find the two about to tie the proverbial knot.

The Karen/Gareth relationship has popped up here and there over the years, but it's really only be in the last two that it's had more emphasis. It's just hard to work that kind of story into a series ostensibly about office humour. However, with the announcement of the wedding it presented several opportunities.

I knew going in that the wedding of Karen and Gareth would be a BIG comic. First you've got all of the events that happen at a wedding: the pre-wedding jitters, the procession, the ceremony, the recession, the photo shoot, the dinner, the speeches, the dancing, and, of course, the cake. Let's not forget the cake. On top of that you have the sheer number of characters that need to appear: all the Cubes regulars, Karen and Gareth's respective parents, the musicians, et cetera, et cetera.

That's why the lead up was so important. Throughout Year 7 of the Cubes semimonthly comic strip Karen press ganged various members of the SeaLeft Software staff into helping with the wedding. This was done quite intentionally to give neearly everyone something meaningful to contribute to the story.

And now the sun is rising, the guests are arriving, and the groom is panicking. Oh, and Max has at least two dates coming.

What could possibly go wrong?
