Hot Dog, Canine Defender of the Innocent - Issue 2
That's the Way the Omelette Splatters

Introduction
Back in 2002, when I was creating the first issue of Hot Dog, Canine Defender of the Innocent, I had a number of ideas for different characters and situations that Hot Dog could be placed in. One of them, for which I developed a full script, was to have Hot Dog deal with an egg-tossing super-rabbit: the Scrambler.

The script for this second issue languished on the hard drive of my computer as other projects I had to work on took precedence. It wasn't until early 2006 that I decided to revisit the Scrambler story and dredged up the old script to use as the second issue of Hot Dog.

Pencilling of issue 2 began in February of the same year, but very quickly another project captured my interest more than the comic. I had wanted to make a fully-featured computer game for some time, but had never quite managed it before. Then in March, I began work on what would ultimately become the computer game Quack V: Omelette of Doom.

Quack V was intended to provide the framework for creating a number of different games. I chose a simple, first person shooter style of game so that I could focus on the technical aspects of the game rather than any in depth game design. Before starting the game in ernest, I had decided that it would be "a game you would play if you lived in the Cubes world". From there it was a short hop, skip, and a jump to introducing the Scrambler as the final boss enemy in the game.

Quack V occupied most of my time during 2006, so I was unable to continue work on the second issue of Hot Dog. The game was finally released in December. At that time I decided to go back and finish the comic as it really provides the backstory for the Scrambler and ties the game more tightly into the rest of the Cubes universe.

I hope you enjoy both the comic and the game!
