Name: Douglas Andinus Occupation: Experimental Biodome Colonist First Appearance: Cubes issue #5
Bio: Douglas Andinus is the husband of Charlene Andinus and the father of Karen Andinus-Flect, project manager at SeaLeft software.
This flamingo passed on his green conscience to his daughter. Douglas and his wife volunteered to be included in an environmental living experiment. The multi-year experiment involved them being colonists within a self-sustaining biodome; research into colonization for other planets.
As a result of being in the biodome, Douglas couldn't attend his daughter Karen's wedding in person. However, Karen's coworkers Ralph Black and Frank Retruf arranged a video conferencing hookup, allowing Douglas to give his blessing.
Behind-the-scenes: Placing Douglas and Charlene in the biodome helped to limit their involvement in Cubes issue #5, a comic already bursting at the seams with characters. The biodome idea was considered more humorous and fitting with the Cubes world than simply having Karen's parents be deceased.
